Regence Caring Foundation for Children

The Regence Caring Foundation for Children, a 501(c)(3) organization, provides free dental care to eligible children in Utah and Idaho.

The dental care Regence provides, from x-rays and cleanings to extensive root canals and crowns, helps children avoid serious problems from untreated oral disease, including:

• Weight loss
• Poor self-esteem
• Speech impediments
• Life-threatening infections
• Costly emergency room visits
• School absenteeism

Children in our program receive comprehensive treatment plans at a level of $1,000 per child per year and at no cost to the families.

• In 2008, a total of 1,757 Utah children and 873 Idaho children received comprehensive dental care through the Regence Caring Foundation for Children.

The Regence Caring Foundation for Children, sponsored in Utah by Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Utah and in Idaho by Regence BlueShield of Idaho, has provided more than 27,000 uninsured children with free medical or dental care for 17 years.

Committed to strengthening the health of our communities, administrative support of the Foundation is solely provided by Regence. Regence is continuing its proud tradition of donating all of the Regence Caring Foundation for Children's general administrative expenses -- which included cash and in-kind services of more than $355,000 in 2008 -- allowing 100 percent of profits from fundraising events and other donations to provide free dental care services to children.
